Air Malta Lost Fleet

Please note: These are the photo I took back then I was young teenager I did not seen the past Boeing 720 and 727 etc. So today I like to share you my lost fleets from Air Malta.

9H-ADI new to Air Malta in 1998 was the last ever Boeing 737-300 fleet in May 2008 it joined Air New Zealand as ZK-NGR. Air Malta did have 737-400, 500 and 700 in the late 90's on a loan I don't have the photo I was too young back then. The last Air Malta Boeing 737-300 I travelled was 9H-ADH back in October 2006.

Here is 9H-ABF the only Boeing 737-200 photo I have for Air Malta!!! It was new to Air Malta in 1987 until it retires the fleet in 30th January 2004 before brand new Airbus A319s and couple A320s arrived. This old aircraft is still in service with Avior Airlines registered YV448T in Venezuela May 2011 after it was with AeroGal HC-CEQ in 2004 from Ecuador. If you don't know Air Malta's 737-200 was one the first 737 in the Air Malta fleet before 737-300 come in the 90's.

Airbus A320 first flight was 1987 then it was first in service in 1988 with Air France the first airline customer. Air Malta announced their first Airbus A320-200 in 1988 it joined the fleet in 1990 9H-ABP was one of the first Airbus A320-200 in the Air Malta fleet. My photo 9H-ABQ was new to Air Malta in 1992 until in December 2004 it joined Air Mediterranee in France registered F-GYAI it's still in service with Hermes Airlines registered SX-BHX in Greece January 2012.

What happen to My Travel Airways?

Before I say what happen to My Travel Airways I like to show you some photos I took back in the day.

This is my first photo of My Travel Airways Boeing 757-200 G-PIDS seen in Malta August 2004 was new to Eastern Air Line from USA in May 1983 ex N505EA. In 2006 it joined Evergreen International Airlines in USA March 2006.

Another photo of G-PIDS seen in Malta in August 2005 taxing runway 32 (now 31) to London Gatwick, United Kingdom.

This is my last ever photo of My Travel Airways G-BYTH Airbus A320-200 was new to ORIZ Aviation in 1993 ex N429RX from USA. This aircraft wen't so many airline companies I can't explain too much
information but her previous registration in the mid 90's was EI-TLE.

What happen to My Travel Airways now? It was based from the United Kingdom started in 1990 as Airtours International Airways till 2004 it was re-branded as My Travel Airways however it was merged to Thomas Cook Airlines in 30th March 2008 thats why we don't see My Travel Airways anymore.

First photo of a Boeing 747

This was my first ever photo in plane spotting history a Boeing 747-400 belong to Air China seen in Malta 3rd September 2004 registered B-2472 was new to Air China in 2nd May 2000. This aircraft arrived in Malta on 2nd September 2004 I believe it came all away from Beijing, China if I remember correctly then the next day on 3rd September 2004 I think it was going to Spain.

I did had more Boeing 747 photos in 2005 and 2006 but unfortunately my computer had a hard drive crash when I try to burn to a CD my computer shut down when I had a power cut then when I turn it back on my computer detected a virus and my hard drive crashed as I said so I lost few more photos.

The airline I remember seeing before my computer crashed was MK Airlines Boeing 747-200 a freight  company keep coming to Malta from Manston Kent, United Kingdom.

My recent photo was Air Atlanta Icelandic TF-ATX a Boeing 747-200 new to British Airways in 1977 taken 20th June 2012 is already in my early blogs. We don't see a lot of Boeing 747 to Malta quite often but a recent airliner Corsair International Boeing 747-400 registered F-HLOV diverted to Malta on a long haul flight from Orly, France to Mauritius in the middle of the night.18 year old passenger felt ill pilots made an emergency landing to Malta the ambulance took the sick passenger to hospital in Malta while Corsair International continues her flight to Mauritius I missed that because I'm in United Kingdom.

As I said we don't see Boeing 747's in Malta more often unlike Airbus A340's but we do see few 747's in the future for VIP and cargo.

What happen to British Airways flights to Malta?

Sorry for the long delay I have been really busy now I'm back doing new blogs.

TodaylLet me take you back when I was a young boy. I first travel home to Malta in 1996 if I'm correct with Air 2000 but I first flew with British Airways from London Gatwick and London Heathrow from 1998-2007. My latest British Airways flight to Malta was G-OXLA it was leased from XL Airways I use to have a photo but unfortunately I lost it on my computer back then. During my return to London Gatwick from Malta in August 2007 I flew on Airbus A321 operated by GB Airways I think it was G-TTIF that was my recent British Airways flight until Easyjet took over. Although British Airways suspended routes not only Malta but some European destinations back in 2008 Easyjet wan't to take over former British Airways destination that was operated by GB Airways till the present year.

I still own British Airways boarding passes for Malta in 2007 back then I was 16. What do I think of British Airways service? I love British Airways and Air Malta I think in my opinion those two airlines I grow up with luxury seats, food can be good & bad and I love in-flight television it can be boring movies if your into different genres.

Here is my early plane spotting scanned photos. British Airways Flight BA6933 registered G-TTOC taxing runway 14 (now 13) to London Gatwick taken in August 2003 1 year later we join the European Union in Malta. This aircraft was new to British Airways in March 2002.
Due to BA's GB Airways flights suspended in 2008 this plane was on a loan to EasyJet for 2 years it's been with Eurofly in 2002 and Meridianna Fly in 2010 as I-EEZN.

Finally here is a good photo of 2 British Airways aircraft from London Gatwick and Manchester taken 2005. G-TTOB Airbus A320-200 was new to British Airways in February 2002 by GB Airways until 2008 it brought to EasyJet because they are ordering brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, in 2009 this plane brought back to British Airways still in service.

The Airbus A321 aircraft is G-TTIC was new to British Airways in December 2002 by GB Airways. In 2008 it was brought to EasyJet as I said while EasyJet ordering more brand new Airbus A319 & A320, this plane is now with DonbassAero Airline registered UR-DAF from Ukraine in 2010.

Will British Airways fly back to Malta in the future? We do not know at the monument it will come back if it's private, diversion/emergency and important guest like Queen Elizabeth II as the last time she flew back to Malta with BA in 2005 registered G-EUUO. British Airways do fly our Maltese Airspace going to Tripoli, Libya and leaving as well.
