What happen to GB Airways?

GB Airways callsign GEEBEE based in London Gatwick, UK was a UK airliner started in 1931 ass Gibraltar Airways. It normally operated from Gibraltar primarily to Morocco and started charter flights to France and Portugal with their Douglas DC-3. In the 1960's GB Airways moved it's headquarters from London Gatwick, UK to Gibraltar. However in 1985, GB Airways changed it's headquarters to London Gatwick because they wanted to go more European destinations with their Boeing 737 aircraft I'm not sure how many back in the day.

British Airways

In 1995 GB Airways had strong relationship with British Airways so it become fully franchised with British Airways operating on behalf of GB Airways like One World Alliance for example it still also part of One World back with BA'S GB Airways life. I don't know if the callsign was still GEEBEE or SPEEDBIRD.  Every British Airways liveries you see is still the same apart from GB Airways logo been added near the flight deck. With more destinations with British Airways by GB Airways, it use to operate from not only Londn Gatwick, London Heathrow and Manchester to every European, Africa normally in Morocco & Egypt  and Middle East destinations most in Turkey.

List when British Airways's GB Airways mainly operated:

London Gatwick: Agadir, Ajaccio, Alicante, Arrecife, Bastia, Corfu, Dalaman, Fez, Faro, Funchal, Gibraltar, Heraklion, Hurghada, Ibiza, Innsbruck, Las Palmas, Mahon, Malaga, Malta, Marrakech, Montpellier, Mykonos, Nantes, Palma de Mallorca, Paphos, Rhodes, Sharm el-Sheikh, Tenerife-South and Tunis

London Heathrow: Casablanca, Faro, Malaga, Marrakech and Tangiers

Manchester: Heraklion, Innsbruck, Malaga, Malta, Paphos, Salzburg and Tenerife-South

EasyJet tookover

It was announced in October 2007, GB Airways has sold to EasyJet for £10.5 million. The criticism was when it was sold to EasyJet The Beehive Terminal (HQ) was closed with 250 jobs was lost I thought to my self why didn't GB Airways transfer to British Airways routes after GB Airways was ceased. Routes from London Heathrow, UK was withdrawn from GB Airways instead it continued to operate by British Airways itself. It continued with EasyJet from Manchester as well after GB Airways. With British Airways's GB Airways destination; EasyJet took over all of GB Airways routes on March 29th 2008 with their temporary fleets from BA'S GB Airways Airbus A320 & A321. I been on the ex GB Airways in Summer of 2008 it was mixed of British Airways purple livery on the engines and bottom fuselage and EasyJet logo on top fuselage and tail but because it was cheap paint, the paint started to come off. I give it a chance after the took over it does take a year to sort out the fleet until it brought back to British Airways & other airliners.

And so that's what happen to GB Airways it was ceased in 2008. GB Airways, you'll always be missed.
