My Flight Report Flybe BE1012 Amsterdam, The Netherlands - Southampton, UK 28th January 2020

Airline: Flybe
Flight: BE1012
Type: De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400
Registration: G-JECM
Flight of origin: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Terminal: Departures Hall D
Destination: Southampton, UK
Date: 28th January 2020
Flight time: 1 hour & 5 minutes
Type of Travel: Non-Schengen flight within the European Union

Welcome to another flight report from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This flight will be one of my last travels with Flybe before it's set for a re-brand to Virgin Connect in the Spring.

I've checked in at the desk where I've dropped my checked bag to Southampton then it's off to security. Passport control on the e-gate was very busy so I wen't in-front to the immigration officer on EU Citizen zone. I got questioned why am I going to the UK & how long I lived their for. This is normally because other EU nationals going to the UK & also because of Brexit happening so I expected this to happen.

The aircraft today is a De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Q400 originally delivered to Flybe in 2006 it's due to become Virgin Connect in the spring. The weather in Amsterdam was terrible so I took a quick photo of the prop engine & boarded the aircraft. I don't know why it parked by KLM Cityhopper because my last flight with Flybe was parked where Easyjet & Ryanair is parked so we had a bus ride to the remote stand.

While I was filming for my YouTube Channel, I've took dozens of photos of the landing gear being splashed from puddles while taxing to the runway. I think this is always why I like to sit next to the landing gear.

We had a very bumpy takeoff from Amsterdam with this beautiful view of the airport.

Of course is looking out of the window around the Dutch coast & the North Sea at 24,000 feet.

This flight wasn't a full compare to my BA flight from London Gatwick - Amsterdam. This flight was carrying roughly 25 passengers. I think because travelers from the South of England don't travel to The Netherlands during the Winter months. My past travels with Flybe in & out of Southampton to Amsterdam was full so that might explain why. However my recent BA flight was full so what am I missing or just competition.

As this was my final Flybe flight, I've decided to support Flybe & buy something lite for this short flight which cost almost £6.00 I haven't seen any passengers bought anything from the crew.

Welcome to Southampton where this will be my final freedom of movement to enter the UK depending if the transition period goes ahead. Once a rainy Amsterdam to a beautiful sunny day on the British South Coast (It did rain badly later in the afternoon.)

Going through passport control in Southampton Airport only asked why I'm in the UK, where do I live in the UK & where's my hometown back in my country because it doesn't operate Southampton Airport. I got through no issues while the UK was in it's final days being in the EU. Most Flybe passengers even me where escorted to customs Green Channel instead of the Blue Channel. You'll mostly see Border Force officers blocking the Blue Channel not because of Brexit, you need to remind yourself that The Netherlands is a drug source country so customs will ask you questions of the purpose of the trip before escorting to the Green Channel even though UK - The Netherlands are within the EU.

What do I think of Flybe overall? It was a fun short flight with a flight time 1 hour & 5 minutes. It's going to be sad that Flybe will be re-branding to Virgin Connect I'll be looking forward to see what Virgin Connect has to offer.

My overall rating:
  • Cabin: 7/10
  • Hygienic: 10/10
  • Food: 9/10 - Just a quick snack
  • Cabin Crew: 10/10
  • Service: 8.9/10
Overall: 7.9/10

Thank you Flybe I've enjoyed this short flight & very good luck in the future with Virgin Connect.

Coming soon in the Sprig/Summer their will be Full Flight Video on my YouTube Channel.

My Flight Report British Airways BA2760 London Gatwick, UK - Amsterdam, The Netherlands 25th January 2020 *Club Europe Special*

Airline: British Airways
Flight: BA2790
Type: Airbus A320
Registration: G-EUUT
Flight of origin: London Gatwick, UK
Terminal: South Terminal
Destination: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Terminal Hall D
Date: 25th January 2020
Flight time: 50 minutes
Type of Travel: Non-Schengen flight within the European Union

Welcome to my first Flight Report for 2020. I am re-visiting Amsterdam in The Netherlands with British Airways since my last BA flight was from Amsterdam to Gatwick with BA's Boeing 737-400 four years ago. You may also remember back in two years ago I was on BA' Boeing 767-300ER flight to London Heathrow also from Amsterdam. Check out my BA 767 flight video if you haven't seen it already.
Back to the Flight Report

Originally this flight was going to be Economy Class. I've decided for this flight I'll be travelling with Club Europe Business Class because my birthday has just finished so I've spoil myself to try it out on this very short flight to Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

I've checked in online from BA's app so at check-in I've printed another boarding pass encase I lose it (travel tip). So once I've checked my luggage I went to Premium Security where BA's Club Europe, Executive Club for Gold Members and Oneworld Priority is accepted.

Of course when you enter the lounge, is looking out the window seeing planes takeoff, land and parked up. This has to be an amazing views I've ever seen since Gatwick did a lot of changes over the years.

As I've entered the lounge, BA it was completely packed during the morning as many BA flights are flying across the world. Their is a buffet as I only had breakfast. You can have an option of toast, cereal & have a nice hot cup of tea to start your day. Their are games for children featuring Xbox One console & PC for internet gaming. Toilets are super clean & modern. Overall the lounge reminds me of being at a 5 star hotel.

I didn't had breakfast at home so I decided to eat something light with tea & orange juice that should keep me going till I had lunch on the plane. Fruit was kinda sweet & rich it's not that bad. I had apple juice and bacon roll & hash browns. It's nice to see the BA logo on every cutlery.

Speedbird 100 is BA's exclusive beer if you use the lounge. After drinking the beer when I arrived in Amsterdam, I thought the beer tasted a bit bitter so it's not my cup of tea. Why is it called Speedbird 100?  you all know BA reached 100th anniversary so this is like a limited edition alcohol.
Overall the lounge for Club Europe is pretty good so I will come back to the lounge again. Sadly I didn't take any pictures you'll some parts of it on my YouTube Channel very soon.

Hear is the aircraft where it'll be taking me to Amsterdam. This Airbus A320 was originally delivered brand new to BA in 2007 it's been with them BA ever since. Boarding starts with BA's Gold, Sliver, Bronze and Club Europe so I've took the seat at row 5A. Once boarding was completed cabin crew has giving us hot towels. I've watched this flight on Flightradar24 where this aircraft arrived from Jersey, Channel Islands till it became my flight to Amsterdam later on.

So I've departed London Gatwick & it's time to take a look if Club Europe is worth the money you pay on a this short flight.

20 minutes after takeoff, cabin crew start their service. Once my meal has arrived, the captain made his announcement about the progress arriving in Amsterdam. For a 50 minute flight, I had salmon with potato salad and tomatoes. On the top left is olives with cheese. Middle is chocolate orange. And a bread roll. Somehow the crew give us milk but I didn't ask for tea so I had a beer which is not shown. I have to say salmon tasted delicious the potato salad is rich. In general I'm not keen on rich food, but when you are travelling on business class you'll expect to taste to be so good.

Chocolate & Orange was pretty good little bit rich too kinda reminds me eating chocolate cake. I've only eaten the olives it's one of my fave. I left the cheese out & other that come with it due to the captain turned on the seat belt sign for landing.

Their no Wi-Fi on this flight so for a 50 minute flight it's not really needed if you are doing work on your laptop or have a bit of entertainment.

I have to say overall, the crew did an amazingly well on this very short flight especially on Club Europe.

Finally after it's been two years I've arrived at Amsterdam Schipol Airport on a very cloudy afternoon. Finding passport control took a while because Schipol Airport is currently doing a refurbishment of the terminal for Non-Schengen area. I did manage to find it where I think it use to be a Schengen arrivals. Anyway got through no problems just questions if Amsterdam is my final destination. Unfortunately the e-gate was out of use but the line for EU passport was only one person being cleared so I did the same.

My overall rating:
  • Cabin: 10/10
  • Hygienic: 10/10
  • Food: 10/10
  • Cabin Crew: 10/10
  • Service: 9.9/10 - also includes no Wi-Fi on-board
Overall: 9.9/10

A big thanks to British Airways for this wonderful short Business Class flight & I will travel with Club Europe again in the near future.

Coming soon you'll see my Full Flight Video on YouTube so expect the video to come in the Spring/Summer time.

Anyway, I'll see you next time with another report.

Aviation in Malta 2019/2020

2019 is officially over as we are now into a new era & a brand new decade to the 2020's. We are going to take a look at normal aircraft visitors & regulars in Malta International Airport. I didn't took a lot of photos so I hope you'll enjoy them.

Air Malta 9H-AEN Airbus A320 delivered in 2006 taken New Years Eve 2019.
This is one of the final aviation photo for 2019. I have more of Air Malta 9H-AEN on Facebook. This aircraft you see is being towed out of Aviation Cosmetics Malta hanger most likely it's either been re-painted of maintenance. I can't find information of why it went to ACM so I guess it's to do be paint work. While 9H-AEN was at ACM & towed to Air Malta hanger at Apron 8, Smartlynx operated for Air Malta with YL-LCO and later swapped to ES-SAS.

Air Malta 9H-AEI Airbus A320 delivered in 2004 taken New Years Day 2020.
First aviation photo for 2020 has already started taken January 1st 2020. Since I was recovering from alcohol I decided to do spotting by seeing Air Malta's famous retro livery on it's duties. Make the most of seeing this ironic retro livery because 9H-AEI is due to retire in the next few years.

Malta Air 9H-QEB Boeing 737-800 new to Ryanair in 2017 ex EI-GDO taken New Years Day 2020.
We are months away for the launch of Ryanair's franchise Malta Air, it will soon be operating in full Malta Air brand. As of right now, Malta Air is still operating with Ryanair. The way you can tell it's from Malta Air in Ryanair livery is the Maltese registration is shown as  9H-QEB ex EI-GDO. Interesting thing about this aircraft, it was going to join Ryanair UK after UK's exit from the EU as it was going to be G-RUKE it was never used later to be used for Malta Air.

Lufthansa D-AIEA Airbus A321neo delivered in 2019 taken 2nd January.
This is the first time for me to see Airbus A321neo in Malta Lufthansa is seems to gain more of it's Airbus A321neo as well as Airbus A320neo.  This particular aircraft is less than a year old and soon Malta will be gaining more Airbus Neo family fleet within the 2020's & beyond.

Nouvelair Tunisie TS-INQ Airbus A320 new to Air Arabia in 2004 ex A6-ABA taken 2nd January 2020.
Nouvelair Tunisie has been coming to Malta twice. TS-INQ Airbus A320 travelled from Tunis, Tunisia on charter operations with passengers & later I think it was an empty flight it departed full length of runway 31. Monday gone, it came back this time from Djerba-Zarzis, Tunisia for charter however it did not see it because I was due to travel to the UK.

KLM PH-BQI Boeing 777-200 delivered in 2004 taken 2nd January 2020.
KLM for the first time I've seen in Malta & first time since it was last here for few decades. KLM's titled KLM Asia if you don't know what it is or have not seen my post about it, KLM Asia (荷蘭亞洲航空公司 in Chinese) operate flights to Taipei, Republic of China with their Boeing 777 and Boeing 747-400. These days KLM Asia still flies with it's "Asia titles" pretty much similar to BA's British Asia Airways when it use to operate from London Heathrow, UK - Taipei, Republic of China via Hong Kong. Anyway, it was almost 9pm on 2nd January 2020 seeing KLM PH-BQI Boeing 777-200 arrived in Malta from Amsterdam, The Netherlands for ACM going for a re-paint to KLM's updated livery.

Qatar Airways A7-AHP Airbus A320 delivered in 2011 taken 2nd January 2020.
Finally to end up here is Qatar Airways. If you don't know, since June last year Qatar Airways now operates Malta direct from Doha, Qatar with Airbus A320 sadly no heavy aircraft for right now. Some days operates in early hours of the morning & late afternoon so Qatar Airways do stay in Malta for quite long for changeovers of crews compare to Emirates.

Next travel information 1st January 2020

Happy New Year! and welcome to the year 2020 where is the beginning of the year 2020's as 2010's have come & gone. This year we have some very exited news for the future travel for this year. Hear are the travel information where I'll be going this year in the Winter of 2020.

I'm currently in Malta celebrating the New Year with my friends & see my family. This will be my first flight for 2020 with British Airways flight to London Gatwick, UK. This would also have been my flight non-EU/EEA flight to the UK due to Brexit it's been delayed till the end of this month. As I've already covered this BA flight before the Summer Holidays last year, I won't be doing anymore flight report for this specific flight.

Continuing onto January & with BA, my 29th birthday is around the corner so to celebrate, I'm heading to Amsterdam, The Netherlands for a little bit of pleasure. Their will be a full flight video & report on that flight first for 2020.

Next up is either be Virgin Connect or Flybe. At the time I've booked the flight it was under Flybe before the announcement kicked in for the takeover. Virgin Connect said it will launch at the beginning of 2020. The destination will be Southampton, UK from Amsterdam, The Netherlands on board their De Havilland Dash 8 Q400 (No longer Bombardier) Because Virgin Connect want's to connect to Virgin Atlantic for hubs like London Heathrow or Manchester for example, my flight might change to Heathrow instead of Southampton. I'll get more information on Facebook.

February will be a very interesting journey starting with British Airways once again this time from London Heathrow, UK to Athens, Greece. For the aircraft this will be the first time travelling on Airbus A321neo. This flight will get a full flight video & report on Club Europe.

To my Asian friends I'm heading back to Asia this time to Changi, Singapore with Scoot Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from Athens, Greece. As for a reason, Scoot's fares are very expectable on your budget from Europe with only Athens & Berlin Tegel, Germany the only two. This flight will also have a full flight video & report

For a little break of flying I decided to cross at the Malaysian Border of Johor Bahru from Singapore Woodlands Checkpoint my next flight as Spring of 2020 is closer in South of Asia my next flight will be connecting from Johor Bahru Senai via Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Seoul Incheon, South Korea with Air Asia.

My next flight continues to my main final destination will be Japan for the second time this time Korean Air's Boeing 777-200ER to Tokyo Narita.  This flight will get a full flight video and flight report.

Continuing with Japan I'll be flying domestically to Osaka Itami from Tokyo Haneda with ANA. As the aircraft type I'll be travelling on Boeing 767 I'm curious to try out in Japanese style. This flight will include full flight and flight report.

And finally two-in-one will be re-visiting Taiwan's full service carrier China Airlines. Around two years ago if you remember I traveled with China Airlines four times these flights wear amazing. These two flights as you can see I'll be travelling with China Airlines from Osaka Kansai, Japan to Taipei Taoyuan, Republic of China on their Airbus A330-300. Finally during my half a day layover in Taipei, my final flight with China Airlines will be heading back to London Gatwick, UK on their Airbus A350-900.  Because I did not include a full flight video, this will hopefully will get one because last time I was on the isle.

That's the travel information for the winter period of 2020.
